Judge Ubaldo Callo has lifted all restrictions placed on the movement and activities of former President Martin Vizcarra.
Vizcarra had previously been restricted in his movement outside of Lima. He had needed judicial authorization for travel outside of the capital.
Previously in his legal battle, Vizcarra had defeated a preventative detention request. Since then, Vizcarra has had limited movement for more than 40 months.
Prosecutors had argued the restrictions should stay in place because of the risk of flight. However, law places strict time periods on restrictions which have long since expired.
Vizcarra is still mandate to appear either virtually or in person for all hearings unless granted permission.
